Airlines in the USA that accept 2 Dogs in 1 Carrier

We have been flying together for over a decade, and having 2 dogs is a game changer.  It definitely makes Traveling with a Dog a little more challenging, especially when we are traveling overseas where the airlines are pretty strict with their policies; like weighing the carriers.

We get asked all the time how I manage to travel alone with both of the girls. My girls are task trained service animals and this is how we fly domestically with US based airlines.

Please see the list below of domestic airlines that allow (2) dogs in (1) carrier.

SPIRIT

* A maximum of (2) pets per container is permitted; only (1) container per guest is allowed.

ALASKA

* Up t0 (2) pets of the same species and similar size may travel in the same carrier, provided no body parts protrude from the carrier and the animals are not in distress.

AMERICAN

* Must be a similar size and weigh less than 20
Ibs. or 9.07 kgs. each. Must be able to stand up and turn around in the carrier.

SOUTHWEST

* The carrier may contain (2) cats or dogs and must be of the same species per carrier.

ALLEGIANT

* Passengers over 15 years old are permitted to bring (1) pet carrier with a maximum of (2) pets inside.

TRADEWIND AVIATION

* Pets fly FREE up to 100 pounds!!

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

* United, Delta, and JetBlue allow you to fly with (2) carriers if you book an additional seatSome of these airlines have weight restrictions so best to always check with your airline before booking your flight.

Please note that not all dogs are able to sit in Business or First Class – so again, check with the airline before booking your flight.

Service animals do not need to be in their carrier, and are allowed in all seat and cabin classes including bulkhead seats, but are excluded from emergency exit rows for safety reasons.

PRO-TIP
Considering getting a second tiny dog, and want to fly with both in one carrier? Make sure you get a breed of the same species. Many airlines restrict different breeds flying together.

Please note, puppies under a certain age or size can fly together on certain airlines. Double check with the airline.
